Speaker's Bio: Paul Saylor completed the Ph.D requirements in Mathematics at Rice University in 1967. Also in 1967, he joined the CS Department at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), where he has remained, except for numerous short term absences such as to serve as a consultant at Yale University and as Visiting Professor at the Swiss Eidgenoessische Hochschule (Federal Insitute of Technology) in Zuerich. He retired in 2001 and is now Professor Emeritus in the Department. An association with LSU began in 2004 which continues until the present. In 2005, Professor Gene H. Golub of the Stanford Department of Computer Science endowed a Chair in the Computer Science Department at UIUC in honor of Paul and Cindy Saylor.
