Abstract: In this talk I will give an introduction to Corning Incorporated and the role of technology in developing new products and processes. I will give an introduction to the different types of modeling that is performed at Corning. I will then focus on two specific types that I am involved in: i) CFD based models and ii) first principles based models. I will share details of how we develop these models and where appropriate validate them and eventually leverage them to make process/product specific recommendations. I will touch upon the role of HPC in our modeling strategy. I will also talk briefly about my experiences around making modeling effective within the industry. http://epic.lsu.edu |
