Abstract:

LSU Multidisciplinary Institute for Neuroscience Discovery will host scientists who have made substantial contributions to the field of neuroscience to speak about their work on LSU’s campus. Each speaker will give a presentation followed by a discussion panel with LSU faculty members.

Speaker's Bio:

Leonard LaPointe is a Francis Eppes Distinguished Professor of Communication Science and Disorders at Florida State University in Tallahassee. He has served invited visiting professorships in Australia, Hong Kong, and New Zealand, and also lectures worldwide. His research focuses on neurological disorders that affect language, cognition, and motor functioning, including aphasia, traumatic brain injury, and dementia. He has received the Honors of the Arizona Speech-Language-Hearing Association, the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the Academy of Neurological Communication Disorders and Sciences, and the Clinical Career Award from the Florida Society of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists. He is author of several books, including Paul Broca and the Origins of Language in the Brain.
