Abstract:
I will present an didactic introduction to high-resolution shock-capturing (HRSC) methods, which are today widely used in numerical relativistic (magneto-)hydrodynamics. These methods are stable and conservative, automatically treat consistently discontinuous solutions and converge to the physically correct solution. They usually employ exact or approximate Riemann solvers and some reconstruction technique to interpolate the approximate solutions within numerical cells.
