Abstract: This talk explores a framework of interactive installations as performance. It develops interstices of interactive installations by drawing from new media and digital art. Performance Studies provides key terminology – constitutive, epistemic, and critical characteristics of performance – to illustrate that interactive installations can reflect and influence the audience’s social and cultural context, physical and cognitive perception, and critical thinking. The goal is to establish a foundation to describe performative reactions and to provide guidance for the future development of interactive installations. |
