IGERT-CFD and CCT Highschool Workshop
open to pre-selected highschools
Frey Computing Services Center 307
April 20, 2007 - 08:00 am
Abstract:
The IGERT-CFD and CCT Workshop will introduce High School students to tools used in scientific research. There will be presentations to familiarize the students with the Center for Computation and Technology (CCT), High Performance Computing (HPC), the IGERT program, and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). They will also work through two tutorials: a visualization tutorial that will have them visualizing the data from a simulation of fluid flow in the eye using the software tool, Amira, and a high performance computing tutorial utilizing the Cactus Framework. These tutorials will give the students a chance to get some hands on experience at working with real scientific research data and tools that they could not get in a regular classroom setting.
